Wood signs are created by using several tools.. Depends on the wood sign, you have to choose the tools.. If you need a clean and sharp edges, you should use Router, either free hand or with templates.. If is to be very rustic, better to use Chisel and Gouge.. All the best for your project.. Be safe while you use tools..

If you want to make small signs, and/or a lot of other little crafts, I would use a scroll saw. You could do many choices for the letters, including the letters cut out, or the letters fastened on individually, or you could do the letters inside the cut outs, and that is just the beginning of what you can do with a scroll saw.
