Will my idea work for selling homemade crafts work?

I am 12 years old, I am an artist in training who loves making stuff out of clay, and this kid in my class (whose name is unimportant to my question) was willing to pay $15 for one of my little homemade kittens! I am interested in Japanese artwork (Anime and calligraphy), so I was thinking that if I sell some clay stuff with Japanese calligraphy and in anime style, people would buy them! but is this a good idea? I might just be being stupid…

p.s, I am better at making the stuff I like, thats why I said people might buy more if they are Japanese calligraphy and anime.

You won’t know until you try. Start small. Try selling to people you know and classmates. Then you can think about craft fairs or with your parents help, ebay. Then you will see what kind of response you get. I admire your ambition. My daughter is very artistic, too.

Go onto websites related to what you want to sell. See how much they charge and how they did the photos, etc. Put up ads at school or online and see how many people respond. You won’t really know until then. I tried to make extra money on Craigslist selling stuff and I found out really quick what type of stuff people reply to. Put an ad and see if people reply, just tell them that you sold it already. Or tell them you will make it to their order. Just be careful with online selling. Make sure your parents know what you are doing and that you are doing it safely. Craigslist can be dangerous if you don’t know how to go about it.

sell them, people buy anything. Don’t undervalue your skill and art pricewise when selling. At 12 might be tricky without someone 18 to sell on Ebay. You can also try craft shows, fleamarkets. Check though usually you have to be 18 to engage in business which is a contract. I sell things I have crafted. people have bought things from me that didn’t look like much. At times it is waiting for a buyer. One woman bought a simple beaded necklace because she liked the simplicity of it. Best value is doing something others can not do. Love anime. With clay, yes !!!
