Wholesale or cheap craft ribbon?
I recently started making home-made sewn dog collars. I use nylon webbing and ribbon sewn on for decoration(because the nylon is just one solid color) I plan to eventually start selling these at craft fairs etc and make a little small side income from it.
I have run into a problem My local fabric store has very generic ribbon sold by the spool. The prices are expensive and there selection limited…on ebay I see a lot of unique ribbon but at the sellers are selling BY THE YARD which is a problem because I need spools of 5yards or more!Below is what I find on ebay….

I want to buy spools at wholesale prices since I will be purchasing 10 spools or a little more at a time. Problem is I have not found a good website that has these unique ribbons like the ebay sellers have(where do they get them?) I even went to popular company ‘Offray Ribbons’ and they only sell to businesses who have a tax id#
Where can I buy(a spool)unique ribbon?(grosgrain, satin) Any wholesale sites that don’t require you to have a tax id#?

One thing to think about… if you’re selling stuff, you ARE a business, and you need a tax number.
Kay is correct in that you ARE a business. If you are going to be selling at craft fairs, the coordinators are going to require you to have a valid tax ID number before the fair date. Just something to think about…
