Which is better for scrapbooking: pages in plastic sleeves, or pages without a cover?
I was just wondering which is better. Sure the plastic protects the pages, but then if say you have a piece of fabric, you have to take the page out to feel it.

One of those photo albums with sticky plastic covered pages. I’ve got one with about two years worth of Garfield clipped from the San Jose Mercury.
i’d say w/o plastic (esp for fabric).
The exception i’d say is if there is something small or w/lots of importance… then it could be put in a plastic sheet.
I like to use the plastic over the pages to protect it…..that way peoples fingerprints and stuff don’t get on the photos. Plus, you can still see the fabric and get the idea without having to touch it.
I wouldn’t use the sticky plastic covers though which the person previously mentioned. They may hold everything in place but they can ruin your photos over time and it would be a pain to take them out if you ever had to.
Have fun scrapbooking!!!
Okay. If you use the page without a plastic cover, it is most likely a Creative Memories book. You’ll have to trim off about 1/4″ on either side. You can touch, feel and interact with the designs on the pages. However, many people I know have to “plan” their pages together so there is not an orphan.
I personally like the plastic sleeves. You can add a lot more to the pages and if something falls down, it will stay. You can arrange the pages any way you want. You can also have a note for a pull-out or something to interact with.
It will depend on what you want, basically. One is not “better” than the other, just personal preference.
I use “pages in plastic sleeves.” These (page protectors) are usually in post bound albums. In 8 years I don’t think I’ve ever scrapped something I wanted to feel. Maybe I will have to do one! I often make interactive pages though. You can slit the page protector to make a flap. That way you can open the flap to feel the fabric then put it back down to protect the item. Using photo clips would be a good way to keep the flap down. I’ve done pockets for programs, etc. that I want to take out and look at, etc.
Well, for sure do not use the albums with pages with sticky covers that you can peel off and lay back down. Those albums will definately ruin your photos as they are not acid free.
I prefer to use the plastic covers – page protectors is what they are called – so that all the items on my pages stay there and are protected from fingers. But then, if you want to do very tactile pages, that won’t work for you.
