Are there any unofficial American Girl sites? Blogs, maybe? See if you can advertise there. Because it’s a registered trademark, you can’t use that name for your clothes unless you have purchased a franchise from the company that owns the name. Be very careful about that.
You can always advertise and sell clothes that ‘will fit any 18″ doll, like American Girl’ if you want. (Be sure to measure the doll to see how tall she is. I just grabbed a number from the air.) You just can’t say these are American Girl doll clothes if they aren’t made by that company. It’s a technicality, yes, but it’s one that could cost you big bucks in a law suit. Go carefully.
You might want to look into Etsy and eBay. Both get pretty good traffic and don’t cost much for the listings. Again, be sure you are not violating any trademark laws when you advertise on those sites.
