Where can I found a lot of jewelry wire?
I need a lot of jewelry wire. I mean, I don’t have a specific number, but I’m an artist and I’m looking to basically cover a 12′ x 8′ wall in crocheted jewelry wire. I spent my past few months in Florence, where I relied heavily on a craft store called Zest! They stocked wire wrapped around wooden sticks (literally, narrow rectangular wooden blocks) from 24-28 gage, and each of these sticks had a good amount of wire. By this I mean I have crocheted part of my piece that is 6′ long x 4′ high using the wire I found there. Specifically, I need wires in variances of blues and greens, and copper coloring is also greatly appreciated. Craft stores don’t seem to stock enough of the wire I need. Any ideas? Thank you!

Later,
Are you in the USA? Electrical supply houses (wholesale) may have fine magnet wire in various colors and bare copper wire in a variety of gauges – sold as grounding wire. Wire wrap wire comes in various colors with thin plastic insulation.
At Elliott’s Hardware in Dallas, we used to buy 1 pound rolls of wire from a company called Nonferrous Metals, inc, in Connecticut as I recall, that does not come up on the Internet, at least not easily. You might call a company near you that you find from a Google search for ‘nonferrous wire’
We sell a lot of artistic wire.
