There are a lot of different web sites out there that offer all kinds of craft ideas. I think the main thing would depend on the age of your kids and the things they would be able to make.

Here is an idea for you. The kids will enjoy doing it. You can make christmas ornaments or magnets if you wanted to the only downfall is it’s not a 1 day project Here is what you need
4 cups of flour
1 cup of salt
1 1/2 cups of warm water
Preheat oven to 325 mix flour and salt well then gradually add the warm water and stir with a wooden spoon. Then knead the dough with your hands. Then give each child a ball of dough. they can either use cookie cutters or make there own design. Make a little hole in it so you can put a ribbon or sting through it Put it in the oven for about an hour or less—they need to be hard.
After they have cooled completely you can have them paint them with acrylic paint. Once the paint has dried put a hook or open a paperclip and stick it through the hole then dip the ornment in 2-3 coats of polyurethane making sure that each coat dries before dipping again. when drying I usually hang it from some type of stand that i can hook it to so that the excess polyurethan drips down onto wax paper. This will avoid you having any clumps. This step will preserve it so it doesn’t rot and then you’re done. You can put them in little gift bags and the kids can hand them out
You can get the acrylic paint at a craft store like Michaels or AC Moore or Joanne fabrics. They may even sell the polyurethane but Im not sure my husband had some in the garage. if your looking for some other crafts for them to do these stores would be a great place to go

If you don’t want to “bake” it, you can just put them on wax paper and let them air dry for a couple of days, gently turning them over after the first day. And don’t forget to use the plastic straw to make the hole before they’re set to dry.
