What would be an easy, quick and inexpensive craft?
I have a friend who has helped me out through a lot of troubles this summer, and I would like to thank him. Unfortunately I lack in the funds department and am not that talented at arts &crafts, I have painted and latch-hooked projects before(I do kinda lack in the ability to paint area). So I am looking for something to make that isn’t too extravagant because I don’t want his girlfriend to think that I’m hitting on him, and I need it to be completed withing 2wks. Any ideas on what to do? The quicker I get ideas the better. Thanks for you help and ideas ahead of time.

How about a thank you card? Use your imagination or the internet and make him one.
Collages. Great way to get ride of old magazines and such. And you can use all kinds of surfaces. You just need paper, scissors, Modge Podge, and a brush. I’ve done word collages for cheap picture frames. My friend has done vases with tissue paper collages on them.
a song?
Combine all three of those!
For inspiration look on line at “altered books,” home made cards, and you can look up songs and poems that say thank you.
The local library would also have some craft books on the above you could look at even if you can’t check them out you are welcome to look to get the creative juices flowing.
make a collage of photos of him and his girlfriend – then she’ll KNOW you’re not hitting on him!! If you don’t have a lot of photos then buy one of those frames with a pre-cut mat that has spots for two or three or four pics.
Bake! Brownies, cookies, cupcakes or a combination of things. Put on the card that it’s “To” both of them and say something like, “Joe’s helped me through a lot of troubles this summer and I’m so greatful. I’m glad he’s got such a great girl as Cindy, too – he’s a lucky guy! Thanks to both of you for being so understanding. ” If that’s too much for you tone it down, but I’m just saying include her so she knows you’re safe.
make matching keychains for both of them – you could use beads with letters and make their names… you could even tie a piece of leather string or cording and put one of their names on each end… make two so they each have a keychain with both their names on it.
I guess the key is to make something simple (the bonus for you is this: the more time you spend on it the more suspicious it’ll look to the GF) and if you can, make it for both of them.
One thing to remember is this, when people do something really nice or helpful, the most they usually want in return is a heartfelt thank you. So the most important thing here is to include a thank you note of some sort that lets him know that you appreciate his help so much and what it means to you (i.e. I’m looking forward to blahblahblah so much now and I couldn’t have gotten there without you. or something like that)
You’re very nice to include a thank you gift, he’ll really understand how much you appreciated it.
