What is this funny little tool I found?
I was looking through my closet and found a funny little craft tool. It’s something like a small metal crochet hook, but with a clasp that swings open and closed without latching. I don’t know if it’s just a crochet hook, but I found a large plastic half-finished gridded rug pattern that it goes to that I want to finish. You take small pieces of yarn and somehow fasten them to the squares to make a fuzzy rug. If anyone has any idea what this is, and how to use it, leave a link saying how to use it orrr if you want you can describe how to use it here! Thanks!

I call it a Latch Hook! It’s a really enjoyable activity and its very easy I used to do it in like sixth grade but its relaxing and fun. So give it a try

I believe that is a latch hook. I could be wrong but you take pieces of yarn about 2 inches or ??? and hold them doubled in one hand and put the hook through one of the squares of the backing and the hook thingy opens and you put the yarn over it and as you draw it back through it closes and pulls it into the rug. You give it a little tug to tighten and that is all. You can use all one color or sometimes there is a pattern or picture on the backing and you use the colors to make the picture on the rug. It is fun. I did it years ago and probably have an old project around here somewhere too.

It is called a latch hook and is used to insert small pieces of yarn through gridded plastic, rope type squares then as you pull it back through the yarn ends go in the open part of latch hook and as the hook closes you pull the hook free and pull on the yarn to tighten the knot.
You probably have had a latch hook type craft kit at one time. They are fun and you can change the colors of your yarn as you see fit…providing you don’t mind cutting it to the right lengths, a somewhat tedious job. I myself love doing all sorts of crafts and this is just one that I learned when I was bed-ridden with pregnancy.
