I know there called crochet but i heard there was a different name for them i think its from Japanese orientation i heard it on Martha Stewart

   It is called origami and not only is it crocheting they also use paper to make different things like birds, animals, etc.

   Amigurami, or amigurumi. It’s japanese for “small cute things,” or some such. You can find books dedicated to it. There are also lots of Amigurumi animals & aliens etc. on the Lion brand yarn site and some on the Red Heart yarn site.
