What is the buying experience Part 2

In the first part, we spoke about the buying experience from the buyer’s point of view. We went through all the steps from browsing your web site to the ordering itself. We are now going to speak of all that happens after the payment has been made.

  1. So, the fourth step, the wait for the item. From the buyer’s point of view they’re taking a risk, as small as it may be. There is always the doubt that your crafts will never reach them. So ship as promptly as possible, and give them an idea of how long it will take. Here, it’s safer to overestimate the time it will take so nobody is disappointed. Take extra care about this around Christmas, when the mail is slower and everybody want their late purchase in time.

  2. Finally, receiving the package is a big part of the whole experience. Getting a package is always exciting after a long anticipation. A well-packaged item will help enhance the experience, and a crappy one will make sure they never buy from you again. And, here it is, your crafted item, free from its package. If you did your best crafting it, with great quality and care, your job is done here.

  3. But there may be a last step : after-sales support. Later on, they may contact you if the item is broken, or if they have questions about using it. Answer those questions with as much care as you would pre-sale questions. It shows that they are using you craft and care about it, and they may be considering a second purchase. It’s a lot easier to sell to a convert than find a new customer.

So, here is it, the complete experience your buyers will go through if they purchase your item. It’s now up to you to make it as enjoyable and hassle-free you can for them, so they wish to buy crafts from you again.

Happy craft selling,

Cindy
