Rubber cement works well if you follow the directions for a permanent bond – if you don’t the bond will loosen over time and fall apart. Also, rubber cement cleans easily off hard surfaces, including paper, incase you put in in the wrong spot or drip on something, and it rarely bleeds through papers or leaves stains.

Use Aleene’s Tacky Glue. It works great and holds well.

Various glues will work “best” depending on the weight, etc., of the paper being used.

For card stock, I’d say glue stick or a not-too-wet permanent white glue (or double-stick art tapes of various kinds like Great Tape, etc:

For thinner paper, I’d say “PVA glue” (one particular type of “white glue” that’s often sold in art supply stores for “book binding,” etc.) or Perfect Paper Adhesive glue would be good, and learn how to apply it well, or use the tapes.

    Hi:

for cardstock Elmer glue works well but you have to give it a over night set time , cold temperature hot glue works good too but make sure the stuff will take the heat with out discoloring it or set it on fire , Super glue I found work half the time . for most other material you must read the Glue label to find out what material it will glue too.

but generally they all will work but the above works for me the best

There are heaps of adhesives you can use, all depending on your purpose. I wrote something about adhesives and paper crafting here:

You can also go the ‘no adhesive’ route for attaching some elements.

    HTH!

My favorite for making cards and scrapbooking, (after tons of trial and many a warped page) is Elmer’s No Wrinkle Dual Tip Washable Glue Pen. It doesn’t warp your papers as regular glue sticks will. Glue sticks and other glues have water in them so it in turn wrinkles up the paper when it dries. It’s pretty cheap too- around $2.50 per pen. It has 1 fluid oz. and is in a fatty pen type holder that is clear with the signature orange and blue Elmer’s colors. I really didn’t expect my favorite to come from Elmer’s- I tried plenty of other more “crafty” looking glues, but their water content was too high, and I always got messed up pages. It’s a real bummer to spend hours on a page, only to come back after letting it dry, and it’s stiff and looks like an ocean wave! Never again! Hope this helps!

There is also double sided tape a very useful item.
