What is an easy craft project to do?

I’m looking for something to do that is easy to make. I am not very good at craft projects so it would have to be something simple and fun but at the same time keep my interest.

Try a bracelet, anklet, or necklace. Hemp with simple knots or a leather cord with a charm. Both would be very easy and inexpensive for a beginner.

This really depends on what supplies you have available and what your interests are. For a wide range of easy crafts, including recycled crafts and easy homemade gifts, check out

Decoupage is something you might like to try. All you need is pictures cut from magazines, gift wrap, comics, or paper napkins and white glue thinned with equal parts water. Paste the pictures onto the object to be decorated, overlapping as you go, then cover the entire thing with a protective coat of the glue and water mixture. This looks good on trays, vases, ivy bowls, tins and lots of other things.

When I was young, my mom taught me how to latch-hook. It’s a way of making rugs or wall hangings from yarn pieces with a simple hook. You can get kits with instructions at a craft store (Michael’s, Hobby Lobby). Once you know what you’re doing you can make your own designs. They make good gifts and once you get your groove it’s very easy to do while watching TV. It keeps your hands busy and creates something useful. I also like the idea someone threw out there about bracelets or other types of braiding. That’s fun too. But if you want something that will take more time to complete, latch-hook might work for you. Holding the hook and doing that kind of hand work easily led me to crochet later on in life – and crochet is more challenging but makes lots of fun stuff. Latch-hook could be a good choice for you – give it a try!
