What can we cover this year’s wooden cross with?

My parish has a big wooden cross that we have decorated for the past 2 years for easter, that goes in the courtyard of the church property.

The first year we covered it in faux flowers, and the 2nd year we covered it with those little plastic gems that they sell in the craft section. Both were extremely beautiful but now we are out of ideas.

    Hi -

    How about:

    Lace trim
    Wired ribbon
Colored foil (like they sell for Easter candy)
    Easter-themed fabric
Mosaic tile pieces (sold in craft shops)…for a stain-glass look
Those flat marble pieces that are used in floral vases

red paint… its where Jesus died… not a pretty place, it wasn’t easy to die and follow God’s will. He was human and divine, but the human part is forgotten. People feel sadness for a soldier or a cop who sacrifice it all. To men, Easter is along the same lines… God’s Sacrifice…

Pine cones! I’ve made pine cone crosses lots of times. They’re quite easy to wire around wood.

Have children paint them in pastel tempera paints during Sunday School, knowing they are contributing to a lovely thing. How proud their parents will be – and do please send me a photograph!
