What basic supplies do I need if I plan to start creating some paper crafts?

Not necessarily scrapbooking, but cards, calendars, keepsakes, etc. Some good websites that might help me get started would be appreciated also!

Construction paper will be key to any paper craft projects along with some type of glue(glue stick or white craft glue). I buy tons of paper at really good prices from Discount School Supply.

    Checkout the link below.

    Hope this helps!

Funky pattern scissors, a good quality paper glue (that wont ruin the paper, preferably acid-free), 3-D stickers, specialty hole punches, lots of cardstock, scrapbook paper (even for cardmaking), sticker letters (or punch-out cardstock lettering), gel pens, paint pens…I could go on forever! :) If you have any other questions ask me! :) I recommend these two websites! :)

    Hope this helps! :)

If you happen to be in Southern California, do go to BIG LOTS! the inventory on paper crafting is excellent and very inexpensive.

I often make projects with just paper, (origami) or with scissors or a knife and glue too.
If I want to cut many things, or do a lot of gluing, I use a cutting board, the kind that does not damage from the knife. But after about 20 years I have decided to buy a second and use my old one for gluing only.

For straight edges (in cards) I have one of the rolling blades cutters. And for circular cuts I sometimes use a set of compasses with a knife instead of a bit of pencil.

For paper, you can do a lot with just the white paper you feed into your printer. Add some colours and some heavier paper or card stock and you are ready to go.
I used 80 grams, (normal printer paper) for a little box with a lid with alpine flowers once, just by creating a sturdy structure and using glue to hold it together. It has been used to hold small things for years. The flowers where white on white, but 3D.

Wal*Mart sells 12X12 pads of colored cardstock, with patterns, sayings, alphabet letters to punch out. I just bought a small bag, 1 pound, of cut up cardstock in several colors, some are 6X6″ and some are 2X2″. I can’t be without my double sided tape. Elmer’s glue is too wet and warps cards when gluing paper on paper.
