Someone I know makes wedding tiaras + fairy wands. She uses this wire stuff and adds beads and flowers. Theyre lovely.
It kind of works the other way. What are you so good at making, that your friends all beg you to make one for them? No matter what craft it is, it takes a long time to get good enough at it to sell it. It has to be something they wouldn’t be able to make for themselves, at least not at that price. It also helps if it is useful.
I got my best idea out of a homewares catalog. I saw something that I would like to have, only mine would be an improvement. I had already been sewing for many years, so that was out of the way. I spent a few days making different ones until I got it the way I wanted, and then gave a few away and used some myself. That showed me where I needed to make changes. Then I launched a website and four years later it still sells like hotcakes.
