2 that I can remember doing with my children are potato printing and papier mache modelling.

For the potato printing simply cut a potato in half, cut a design into it then dip the design only in childrens paint (acrylic). Press on to paper and leave to dry. (you could be brave and simply let them use their hands rather than potatoes.

For the modelling mix up flour and water to a thin paste. Tear a newspaper into thin strips. Blow up a balloon as a base and then apply the strips of paper, dipped in the flour/water mix. Let it dry, pop the balloon and then paint – in the style of humpty dumpty or an owl or something similar that can use the balloon shape.

make a bunch of hole punches out of brightly colored paper, completely cover a plastic easter egg with the punches, if they’re pink punches, add legs, ears, a tail, eyes and a snout to make a pig. if they’re orange, make it into a goldfish, if it’s black and white make it into a penguin. hope this helps and have fun!!

Here is a link for you to check out for braiding lanyards. Girls also like jewellery making. Go to a dollar store and check in the hobby section. There are boxes to paint and inexpensive supplies for crafts. Have fun!
