Used Christmas Cards. I WANT THEM ! Any ideas on where I could put my name to get people to donate them to me?
I cover boxes with them, make disposable childrens books out of them, re-cut and make new Christmas cards. I just don’t know how to ask folks for them without sounding like a kook … ideas? any bright ideas as to where I could put my name out there to get them? This is legit. As fewer people send cards, it’s harder to get them. eBay sell vintage lots (which I love) but that is spendy. What I don’t use I pass on to teachers who use them for crafts in class.
I will use advice for next year also as I realize it may be a bit late for this year.

It may be too late now, but try posting an ad in stores, laundermats, etc. Maybe even take a small ad out in the local paper asking for them. Maybe you could put in small collection boxes for people to drop the cards off in. Ask permission first! Post an explanation as to why you want them and what you use them for. Good Luck.
freecycle.org or craigslist.com
Online, you can go to craigslist.com and post your ad there. Good luck.
I think it’s neat. It’s cool to be “green” these days and recycle products. Start with friends and family…ask if they will check with their friends. Before long you should have a whole network of “card givers”.
Put an ad on craigslist requesting old/used christmas cards.
You will get lots of responses.
I know it works because I have put an ad on craigslist and I got too many responses and now I have too many used christmas cards I can handle. I can donate alot of them to you for free. Just contact me on my nickname.
Do you accept religious christmas cards by the way?
Just about everywhere I have lived (unfortunately more places than I’d like to count) have a listing on yahoo groups for Freecycle. Search on yahoo groups for “your city, your state freecycle” and that should take you to the right group listing if not use yahoo search for internet with same criteria you might have to use a metro area if your in a small town. I love it because ALL items must be 100% FREE (no money, no trading).
