What types of crafts / jewelry can you make with a soldering torch / iron? Which one should you get?

My girlfriend is very much into a) DIY jewelry, among other things making jewelry by bending wire, and b) anything that’s loud, bright or vaguely dangerous.

For the above reasons, I considered buying her a gas torch as a present, so she could take her jewelry-making to the next level and indulge her pyromaniac nature at the same time.

Since neither I nor she have any clue about making crafts/jewelry in this way, I wanted to ask if anybody can recommend books or websites on the topic.

Where can I get a glue-like glaze for making jewelry?

I bought a handmade ring a while back. It’s made out of ordinary plaster with a photograph cut out of newspaper glued on top. However, there’s some sort of glue-like glaze on the ring that makes the plaster smooth and sticks the paper to the surface. It’s starting to peel off in some places, so I’d like to know what this glaze is and if I can make it at home or if I have to buy it in a crafts store.

I am making bottle cap jewelry for local school fundraisers and also for craft shows. I need a business name and I am having a hard time coming up with one. I like Creative Creations, but someone else in our area is using that. Any ideas?
