Make felt hand puppetswww.eduplace.com/hac/arts/puppets.html – or http://www.montessoriworld.org/Handwork/?puppets/puppet7.html
buy some clear glass craft ornaments at the craft store[they are cheap], and swirl some craft paint or glitter paint around inside of them, or stuff them with something like little squiggly strips of paper.
Make sock monk-monks. these cost a bit more, and involve sewing, but are so cute, and back in style now. lennytaylor.freeyellow.com/Monkey.htm -
Make a stuffed animal, if you can sew a seam, you can make a stuffed animal. go to a fabric store, and find the remnant bin. find suitable material[fur, cotton, sturdy fabric of any kind][and watch for sales, I got a whole bunch of fabric for just a few bucks during a half price sale, and the remnant was already half price]. go find a pattern in the pattern books there.
Make Xmas stocking. You don’t need a pattern, just some felt and some beads or sequins. Make a small felt ornament, two round pieces of felt, stuffed and sewed or glued shut that you embellished with sequins and seed beads. there is a picture of some in one of the pattern books at the fabric store.
I just caught a sale and the felt squares were 40 cents.
If you live where it snow, make a snowman kit. Just some fabric cut and glued in the shape of a scarf, some sort of old hat, and buttons threaded on some florists wire to stick in the snow ball head, and a fake carrot nose. Consider going to the dollar store and buy a set of scarf and hat and even gloves.
I was going to suggest making a wreath and you can do that by buying that long 8 inch green pine like garland and shape it into a circle and add your own home made decorations. You can buy some nice ones for $1 a piece at micheals or a dollar store.
Or you could cut the garland to make small trees and decorate them with beads and string. Could buy a small set of lights for a buck or 2 to put around it also.
Could make and decorate cookies
Or the same old reindeer candy canes with googly eyes and pipe cleaners!!
How about some Christmas origami crafts you can find here http://www.squidoo.com/christmasorigami all you need is a piece of square paper or make it with fabric. You can use the origami to make decorations, ornaments, wreaths, cards and more.
