Selling crafts online? Etsy.com?

Is there anyone out there that can tell me all about Etsy.com! My BFF and I want to start a store on there for a little extra cash and some fun!
Even if it’s just for fun? We aren’t in need of SERIOUS money…
Cool! You guys are REALLY helpful… I have been doing ALOT of research on etsy.com! I think I really want to do it! I think it is organized so well, and MUCH less confusing than ebay. It just seems soooo simple! LOL! THANKYOU!

Etsy does not advertise, so the only people who shop there are the other crafters who list there. Unless you’re selling bargain craft supplies, I wouldn’t even bother. Internet shoppers don’t trust it because it looks unfamiliar. Better to go with Ebay or better still, your own website, no middle man.

editing- Ebay’s feedback system has not changed, and you don’t have to wait for bids. I always used buy-it-now because most shoppers like a set price and immediate purchase. But if it’s just for fun, then yes, Etsy will be ok because the listings are cheaper, to make up for the fact that nobody’s buying.

I resent the fact that Etsy asks its customers to advertise for them, yet they don’t spend a penny to advertise themselves.

Etsy is great. It is fastly growing. It is very very cheap to list also. You go through paypal just like ebay. Etsy is for people who handmake your items. I sold quite a bit. EBAY’s fees are out of control. They also don’t let sellers leave feedback anymore. Etsy is a great community. People who are looking for handmade unique items. They have forums to help you sell. If you want to sell locally you have your own little store to send people too. I think it is 10 cents to list.
When you decide what you want to buy..look through other peoples items and see what sells. I notice things on Etsy you will get more money for because you set your price. On ebay you have to make your items less and hope people will bid on it. You also get to keep your item on there for six months for the ten cent fee. I think you get like 4 or five pictures to add also.
If you have any questions you can email me.
    The etsy community is wonderful!!

People also do trust it because they go through paypal also. So expect the paypal fees of course(also owned by ebay)
You find your niche and you will be set. There is a lady called fat daddy cupcakes that sells an incredible amount a day!!
You can look her up and see how much she gets a day..which is amazing.

I recently discovered etsy and found the place to be interesting and I plan to buy from there…

I noticed it comes up on google search for items lets say dolls or set of stitch markers is put into google search I get etsy links it is organized well and even has locale area search for you to use so that we as consumers can purchase items by state etc…

The site is clear about how things are done. Payments, fees etc..

Ever tried cafepress? Its a good place too.
