Question about shea butter and soap making?
Okay so if you want your soap to be extra moistruizing can you add shea butter? (in the melt and pour process, not cold process) Because I think that would be really nice but can you actually just add shea butter to a base or what? Because I don’t really want to start ordering shea butter base because it’s more expensive than clear and white. So if I decided if in a bar I randomly wanted to put shea butter in it could i? And when would I add that? And how much? And where can you get pure shea butter?? Sam goes for adding aloe, honey, and goatsmilk? Thanks!
Sorry to repost but people werent getting it. I didn’t mean I wanted to add shea butter to like my dove soap, I meant that in making soap like a CRAFT if you could do that. S

You can add these thing to MP (melt & pour) soap but in very small amounts of about 1 teaspoon per pound of base. MP soap is not really formulated to have large amounts of additives. If you add too much, it will kill the lather of the soap and it may not cure correctly.
Try wholesalesuppliesplus.com for supplies, they are very reasonable & reputable. They also have recipes & tutorials on the site and a great Yahoo group. You can buy powdered goats milk at the grocery store on the baking goods aisle and liquid in the milk section..
