Posable wire for crafts/stuffed animals..help please!?
I’m trying to find out what kind of wire to use in a stuffed animal project I’m doing. It would be used for wings, and I need something that is strong enough to support the weight (the wings really aren’t that heavy to begin with) but also durable yet flexible. Is there any specific type someone can recommend? And where would someone find something like this? (I looked around at the local Joann Fabrics and couldn’t find anything). Thanks!!

Annealed copper wire or soft aluminum wire. They get stronger when you bend them.
I’ll bet mcmaster.com has it. Also try your local bonsai shop, though it won’t be cheap there. Or perhaps Michael’s has it.
Have you considered coat hangar wire? Or is that too heavy?
If you’ve got some tools, and the curves required are gentle, music wire can be bent (with a lot of effort). However, it’s very much stronger than these other materials. Then you just have to pick the right size for stiffness and flexibility. You might want to try to find the stainless version. From mcmaster or smallperts.com
Depending on the size and amount of flexibility needed of the wings you’re making, you might want to use various kinds of wire.
“Armature wire” is sold at art supply stores and is often used in art/craft, or you can buy wire at a hardware store (copper, plastic-coated, etc) or jewelry supply dept (or even use pipe cleaners), then twist two wires together if you need more strength.
