Where are you from? My boyfriend is an artist and he sells his work at a craft fair in Newcastle once a month, he pays £15 a month for his stall but he makes it back easily. The stalls who sell small handmade items like yours do very well and make quite alot of money, also pet items are very popular! To trade you will need public liability insurance, but this is easy to get and not to expensive. Contact your local council for details of any markets that have a craft section and good luck.

look on Ebay for jewelry making kits or Sterling Silver wire. With a pair of pliers, some beads and creativity you can bracelets, necklaces, rosaries, etc.

You could learn to make something but it takes a long time to get good enough to sell. To make money now, offer to do services like babysitting, pet walking, cleaning, or yard work.

A while ago, I was trying to get some money together to go travelling. I compiled a list of money making ideas which I saved on the hard drive. One second, here it is:

    List of money making ideas/schemes

http://www.mopay.co.uk – A website that gives you money for your old mobile phones, as long as your phone isn’t from the Jurassic era, you can get quite a bit of cash from this.

http://www.yougov.com – As a member of the YouGov Panel you will be invited from time-to-time to participate in surveys on topics ranging from politics to painkillers to pensions. Each time you take part in a survey, you will have your virtual YouGov account credited with cash amounts depending on the survey’s length, or you may be entered into a prize draw. When you reach £50 in your account, YouGov will send you a cheque for that amount.

http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/page/recognition – “I have recently become a Body Shop At Home consultant. Basically when people want a Body Shop at Home party, I go round and do it for them. I’ve been doing it about three months now and I love it!!! It’s a really fun way to earn some extra money, there’s no pressure for how much you have to sell or targets to meet or anything, you can do a party as and when you want to, plus you get loads of freebies & ridiculously cheap Body Shop products.”

    Saving money
http://www.quidco.co.uk – “If you need to book or buy anything, try to do it through this site. I used them and got 8% back on stuff from Millets and Blacks. You need a paypal account or bank account. I have used them to buy a few bits I needed, and have earned about £80 back, which is brilliant!” – Lara_jane78

    Hope this helps a little!

This is a very good Idea. I’m happy that someone as young as you has this plan. There are a lot of things out there that you can make to sell. The only thing that limits your ability is your imagination. I have a wood shop and we make a lot of shelves. There easy, simple, and don’t take alot of material. I have made rabbit cut outs for easter and then put them together and let the kids decorate them to take to there teachers. They loved the time spent together doing something that was fun and served a purpose. I’m not sure what your good at. But there are a lot of little things people will buy that you can make your self. Here are a few sites that I have saved. Hope they help you.
    http://www.countryliving.com/crafts/projects/
http://handymanclub.com/Main/default.aspx. With this site you may need to do a little searching.
    http://familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts/
    http://www.mainstreetmom.com/craft/index.htm
These are just a few. You have a computer you can type in arts and crafts yourself and get other sites yourself. Good luck.

Well, I don’t think any of these answers have address your question yet. Let me try.

First, at 13 it will be hard for you to start a teeny/tiny business w/o help form an adult. Craft shows usually want vendors with tax numbers (which means additional income tax and a possible nightmare for your parents/guardians), ETSY and eBay want people over 18. So, ask a parent permission and for help.

In order to be successful at making and selling things, the item needs to be in demand. So check out ETSY and eBay for the things you want to make and see if anyone will buy them. You could also go around to stores in your town as someone else suggested. You could also talk to teachers and other parents to see if there is a need you can fill.

There is no since investing money, time and energy into a craft that no one wants.

However, if you think this is the way to go, then here are a couple of sites I use for free pattern – they may give you a few ideas – you have to register, but they are free:

    http://www.freepatterns.com/list.html?criteria=bagssewg

    http://www.craftster.org/forum/

    http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/crafts/

I also think the pet care/child care idea is a good one. These are always in high demand and may give you other ideas for crafts you could make and sell.

Good luck and an entrepreneurial spirit is never a bad thing.

BTW, a friend of my son’s once sold toothpicks for a penny each to kids at his middle school after lunch and made a killing – so anything is possible.
