need help with craft ideas for pre-k kids.?

I usually only have them for a few hours after school, but today I am getting just pre-schoolers for the whole day any ideas on easy crafts. I have limited supplies because the teachers rooms will be locked. I have tons of cereal boxes, paper towle rolls, milk jugs. I have markers, crayons and just plain white paper. sizzors and glue sticks! This I can bring from the crafts i do with my chidren at home.

cover the boxes with white paper glue it on real good
    let it dry
and have the kids draw their houses on the boxes – you know the box becomes a house

i’m not sure how much skills pre-k kids have. with your experience, you can change the following to suit their skills :-)

    – make cereal box masks. cut out the broad sides [each box can easily make 2 masks] & hand each kid one rectangle. they can draw the outline & cut in any shape they want [animal, cartoon, geometric, etc]. cut out 2 rounds for the eyes. let them decorate with crayons. towel rolls, etc. Add a string on each side & voila!

    – make opera glasses / spectacles from the narrow rectangular sides of the boxes. cut out eye-holes in any shape. tie strings or roll some paper into tubes & glue to one side of the ‘glasses’ to make them opera-style glasses.

    – make buntings out of towel rolls.

    – make paper flowers by just scrunching up the paper roll & gluing to sticks/cardboard strips that act as stems.
or glue to a string to make garlands or wall-decorations.

    – cut out strips from cereal boxes or fold white paper to form bracelets. color & decorate as desired. glue the ends & have each kid wear his/her bracelet or exchange as friendship bracelets.

    – make simple origami hats/caps out of the plain white paper. color & decorate.
similarly, if possible, they can make boats.

    – glue or tape many white paper sheets to make one large sheet. display it on the wall. let kids come up in groups & write their names, doodle, etc. to get one huge collage.

    hope some of these help
all the very best & have fun :-) )

They can make flutes from the paper towel rolls. Punch holes in a row and cover the bottom of the tube with wax paper. Secure it with a rubber band. Then let them decorate their flute anyway they want.

With milk jugs, the only thing I remember making was easter egg baskets.

Cereal boxes – let them make pictures. Cut the boxes so that you have two “canvases” per box. They can draw or paint their ideas on the cardboard side. Let them come up with a theme like ‘their family”, “what I like to do for fun”, or read a story and then let them paint their picture about the story.

You could also let them make fans. If you have tongue depressers or large popsicle sticks, attach them to the cardboard. Again they can draw or paint designs on one or both sides of the cardboard.

    Hope this helps.
