Looking for different fun and easy arts&crafts?

For example, collages. But I’m looking for lesser known things like where you take a bunch of acrylic paints on top of a garbage bag and when it dries you have this textured “skin”. Preferably easy but not a childs project

I have many art mediums and craft supplies so anything pretty much goes. Thanks!

It looks like you like the idea of decoupage. You could do it to tables, picture frames, dressers, jars, gourds (turn into bird houses ) etc. Magazines are a great source of pictures, a little ModPoge and away you go!

How about something really different, but fun and creative! Recently I’ve started etching glass. Using an etching cream, I can apply it on most glass surfaces like candle holders and vases. After you decide what you want to put on your glass, make a stencil from contact paper, cover the area with the etching cream. It will be ready in about 5-10 minutes. Clean with warm soapy water and you have a beautiful homemade craft that would be great for a gift! Just be very careful that you don’t get the cream on you or any other part of your project! Good luck! Have fun!

I recommend that you go to an Arts & Crafts store, such as Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, or JoAnn Fabric. Wander around the various departments to see what strikes your fancy. You might like sewing, handicrafts (knitting, crocheting, etc), painting, jewelry making, soap or candle making, scrapbooking, woodworking, metal working, or any of the dozens of things that you can find on their shelves. Most craft stores have free leaflets with instructions on how to do a specific craft, so you can try several until you learn which one(s) you like. Many of the crafts have inexpensive starter kits so you can try it with little investment.

How about an easy photo frame that is practically free to make. For my daughter’s wedding shower I made photo frames using old c.d. plastic covers by printing off photos the size of the c.d. cover inserted it where the label had been… then hot glued old colored potpourri that had lost it’s smell on the outside front edges to create a “framed” effect…then i glued some pennies to the bottom edge so it would stand up… and act as a counterweight for the potpourri so it would balance I didn’t feel like i was defacing them because i could remove them later… but if that bothers you use washers instead http://www.artlessonswithjamie.com
