Knitting Question?

I just started to learn to knit from a knitting club at the local library and they meet only on Thursdays. I went to the local craft store today to buy some stuff to knit and decided on an idea from a book in the store. It is a scarf but at each end is six knitted rows of eyelash yarn. The eyelash yarn is so complicated to use – especially for me being a beginner. So I started with just the main yarn. I know I can add the eyelash yarn to the end when I am done next week when I have assistance from the ladies at the group…but what about adding it to the beginning after I’ve already made the scarf. Is that even possible? Or should I just forget the eyelash fringe???

You’ll be able to add it to the beginning edge, especially if you have help. Basically you’ll “pick up and knit” the stitches, essentially work the needle through the stitches and make new loops, then you can knit from there. Technically, the stitches will be upside down, but with the eyelash fringe you won’t even be able to tell. Happy knitting!

You are brave to try eyelash yarn as a new knitter. The results are quite cute. I’ve been knitting for more than 30 years and still get frustrated with it. At least if you make a mistake it doesn’t show.

eyelash is too complicated and too hard to use for a beginner. your best bet is to forget the eyelash fringe and use a different yarn.

u can add the eyelash yarn to the beginning by picking up the stitches at the start of the scarf and knitting the eyelash yarn on. ask one of the ppl in ur knitting group to show u how to pick up stitches – i’m sure they know how.

The eyelash is a bad yarn for beginners, for sure. You might want to forget it. The joy of knitting, crocheting, or anything else, is we don’t have to do what the instructions say!! We can make up our own minds.

I think I would use the eyelash in this case as the fringe and just cut and knot it on.

I bought a bunch of eyelash yarns for blanket enhancements in crochet!! I am not using it on my blankets. I cannot see the stitches!!

So the eyelash went to my weaving loom where it is enhancing a lap robe, project in progress!!!

I think that adding the eyelash yarn to the beginning would be a challenge that you may not be ready for yet. What about just using it on each end to add a fringe?

you could ask the some people at you group if they could hep you think of ideas i would say depending on how you use the eyelash yarn at the end you could crochet it at the beginning but i don’t know what it looks like but i would ask them what they think you should do

eyelash yarn is kind of hard to use but yet it is not too hard it depends on the user and how long exactly they have been knitting you could also knit or crochet your own fringe out of a contrasting color in yarn you could sew it on or pick up stitches either way it might be easier in the encyclopedia of knitting they have different edgings you can say forget the eye lash i am going to add this instead
have some fun knitting and crochet shouldn’t be a chore it should be fun and relaxing at the same time
