i’ve heard that its a pretty good place to work. You have to know measurements to cut the fabric (they have a yard stick on the table so it won’t be too bad). You have to know product information, but you will gain that in time when you work there. Other than that its like any other retail job. Its also good to come into the job with a little crafting background so its easier to adjust to the job
I worked there for a couple of years.
You don’t need to know anything really though most stores prefer people who do know something about at least one of their lines of merchandise – sewing, quilting, crafting…
I have sewn clothes for ages and people ask for help with everything from just reading the back of a pattern and figuring out how much fabric is needed from drapes to things that are much more creative like “how do I make my son a carrot costume?” and other highly amusing things. You would learn quickly how to cut fabric and learn some basic stuff but it would probably help if you had a little background.
I enjoyed working there because I knew when all the sales where well ahead of time and spent my whole paycheck on fabric and patterns.
That sounds like a fun place to work at!
