Is there such a thing as faux ostrich eggs or large eggs I can carve for craft use ?

I was looking into buying ostrich eggs to carve for a craft project, but they are about $20.00 a peice, way too expensive for me right now. I was hoping to find out if there is such a thing as a faux ostrich egg or faux large eggshell of any kind that I can still carve? If not, does anyone know if there is anything close to what I’m looking for? I’m thinking porcellain or some type of material like that

I’ve seen that size made out of styrofoam and I’d think they are made out of other things as well. you could carve styrofoam.

I would say your best bet is a styrofoam egg. It would be easy to carve, and you can actually get a paint called Smooth Finish which is designed specifically for styrofoam and it smoothes out the surface. It doesn’t even look like styrofoam anymore afterwards.

Both the foam egg and paint can be found at any craft store, btw. :)
