Is Ebay profitable for selling arts & crafts items?
I make some things that have sold pretty well at yard sales. I was wondering how I can make more money selling handmade items.

Some people can make money at it. Others just offer things for sale that no one bids on. Have you taken a look at what’s being offered on eBay and what is selling and for what prices? It really depends on what you have and how you present it. Being friendly, informative, and “talkative” with your potential bidders is often helpful. Talking in giant letters and using lots of superlatives when describing your items is annoying. Photos are good, more photos are better, and blurry photos just make you look careless.

Some handmade items do *incredibly* well on eBay … and others just don’t sell at all. Without knowing more about what you make specifically, it’s hard to say how you’d do there. I’m not amused by their latest (2008) fee & policy changes though. Good luck!
I am a eBay buyer deluxe.I shop eBay for the bargains. I would never sell or buy handmade items on eBay.I would not waste my time ,People will not purchase handmade(unless antiques) on ebay you can not see, feel.or judge how well made they are. and you can not give a bargain price, because of what everything costs you. Then you have shipping problems.I don’t know what type of items you make but, nothing is sacred. all the fragile and handle with care signs you put on the box makes no difference. Then you have the customers.People are mean when it comes to the all mighty dollar. All and All I wouldn’t do it.Best to find an outlet in you own area and for get eBay.
Etsy might be a better site – the fees are less and you get people viewing the site who are specifically into hand made items.
I’m recommending esty too. I think you’ll have a better time of it there This is not a good time to go to ebay.
