I’m looking for a a good book or guide for basic woodworking, specifically weapon crafting.?
i’m a member of a small medieval martial arts group. we practice mainly with german longsword wasters, but because we are so small we have extremely limited funds. luckily we have been granted free use of a local woodshop, provided we have our own materials. so we’ve decided to try making our own practice weapons. i have basic experience with large scale projects, i know more or less what i’m doing and how to not hurt myself. but i would like a guide of some kind for this degree of technical craft. can anyone help me?

Look making practice swords is more about wood choice than shaping skill. A few hours with a draw knife to shape the blade is usually all that is needed. Look for good straight grained pieces and see that there are no irregularities. Oak and hickory are good woods, but if one of you want to splurge on a special private piece Massacar Ebony is the way to go.
