If you could have any decoration or craft/jewelry made of real peacock feathers, what would it be?
I work on a farm that has peacocks, and we sell the feathers that drop every year. But we have started to make earrings with the tips, and now we are looking for new ideas on what we could create and sell for some minor revenue.
Ideas we have already had include other jewelry, such as necklaces or brooches, as well as keychain ornaments or clear bookmarks.
If you could buy something made with real feathers, what would you be willing to get?

As long as it’s from the feathers that drop off, I’d probably be looking at a pendant or a brooch. The earrings would certainly be gorgeous, but wouldn’t they tickle? The brooch or pendant would be worn where I have clothing covering the skin, so ticklishness wouldn’t be an issue. Those feathers would make seriously lovely clear bookmarks, too.
One thing I think you should also consider is selling components. Make the tip of the feather into what you would use to make an earring (add a cap and loop, or whatever you do) and then sell 3 – 5 of them in a package for jewelry makers. That way, folks could put them wherever they wanted to.
You could make hair clips and head bands from the feathers. I have a clip with a peacock feather and also a head band and I love them.
Hairpieces!!! Feathery hairpieces are HUGE in fashion right now….also adding them to hats might me nice as well. Especially in the wedding world – feathery bridal hairpieces are exquisite.
I buy wooden bangle bracelets at Hobby Lobby and then decoupage strips of paper onto them. The decoupage glue dries clear and shiny. It would be interesting if you could maybe paint the bangles white or some other bright color then decoupage a peacock feather over the top. I would buy one!
Fascinator for my hair.
