I want to sell my crafts at farmers markets and make a living doing this.?

Question by Aranyani Dasi: I want to sell my crafts at farmers markets and make a living doing this.?
I have sold my handmade jewelry in the past but it was only supplemental. I would be selling jewelry, soap, toothpaste, deodorants, baked goods, lotions and perhaps some other items.
My goal is to make enough money working farmers markets and some fairs during spring, summer and fall… in order to support myself during these months and to have enough money saved from this work to support myself throughout winter while I make products for the next market season.
Has anyone else done this before, and succeeded?

I never have, but I attend those fairs and bazaars, and know people who do. They do make money. some more than others. It is all about finding out what the people want, and making it, and doing a good job making it.
The busiest booths are the old fashioned home made candy booth, they make divinity, fudge, buckeyes. the commercial fudge[they have every flavor imaginable] and the commercial spiced nuts[they are hot, and you can smell them the instant you enter the mall]..
the lady who puts up a sign proceeds go to cancer charity and sells tiny earrings in boxes. $ 5, and she sold out two years ago half way through the craft fair. Another is a photographer, she takes local scenic pics, and sells them. Big framed ones, and small postcard size to use for that, or frame yourself. I have one, it is a cardinal in the snow. Beautiful.
The dog treat and doggie accessories place does well.
My friend who goes with me to the bazaars likes the handmade soap, and both of us look for unique Xmas decorations, she bought a painted sled last year. I bought crocheted mice and homemade peanut brittle.
I see the same people with the same stuff at all the local fairs, purses, unique ceramics, Avon, the company that makes mixes, like for soup.

To make a living doing just craft fairs is very difficult.
I live in the West Country of England which is a very rural area which takes a lot of pride in producing traditional local produce and crafts so farmers markets and craft fairs are a popular event.
The stallholders at such events nearly all have a second income from a full time shop or farm. Those who do not are not the main family breadwinner. They have turned a hobby they have talent for into a way of earning money but do not enough cash to fully support themselves.
