I make Doll House rooms as a Hobby but my mom wont let me get a doll?

Since about April of last year I have been making Doll House rooms for a hobby.I really enjoy it and I see it as becoming something I would like to do in the future (interior design)
My mom loves my hobby and always helps out but It feels weird making all these Doll House rooms and NOT having a doll to put in them.

I would like to get an American Girl doll (I know they are expensive but I would use my own money I earn from my online buisness) Because those dolls are very steady and it is easy to find accessories for them cheap on places like Etsy and Ebay or off market Doll Stores online.

The problem is she won’t let me get one and no it’s not because I am too old. It’s because she says they are scary. The only reason she is saying this is because we watched a show where a girl got a life size doll and then it came to life and took over them family and she said the company on the TV was to similar to American Girl.

I tried explaining to her it was meant to be like American Girl because they were obviously making fun of the place. But she still says she doesn’t want one.

I mean I like taking pictures of them when they are done and its just odd putting up pictures of empty rooms or at least it is to me.

Any advice or any other doll places I could try to convince my mom to get me?

Not like Barbie because the rooms are to big for them.

Wow. your mom sounds like she looked too much into the show you saw. What show was it? There are many good doll companies out there. Many of the best ones are expensive, but if you are willing to pay, then that’s okay. I think you should really set your mom down and tell her *why* you want a doll, how you will pay for it, and what you would use it for. You don’t mention how old you are, but you sound quite mature, so I don’t see why you *shouldn’t* get a doll. There is no age limit on dolls. :)

Update: i thought I’d update this with some more lines and so prices for you.

    Some good lines are

BFC Ink are very accessible. They are slimmer and have more posing options than American girl. you can find them in any major retail store.

Carpatina dolls (www.Carpatina.com) The most expensive doll is Veronika, a medieval princess at 89.99 + tax and Shipping (You might be able to find them cheaper on Ebay.) The Cheapest are Erin, a redhead, and Zoe a blond. They also have two boy dolls, Carter and Adam. These dolls are slightly slimmer than American Girl dolls and all vinyl. They will fit in AG furniture or room settings however.

something similar to American girl, but much less in cost would be the madame Alexander line of 18″ dolls. You can get them at Toys r Us or amazon.

I have a bunch more if you’d like to know.
