i bought a pig planter at an arts and crafts show, and it is shedding the top layer of clay. How can I save it?

I had it outside last summer and put plants in it.It is so very cute. I brought it in for the winter, but noticed that the outside is chipping. It must be from Mexico and I know they do not bake their clay like we do in the U.S. Is there something I can put on top to like more clay, or paint, or sealer? I love the natural color it has now, but I want to preserve it, and keep it in my home from now on.I probably will not find another one like it very soon.thanks for your help.

Hi Bon Bon, yep that is the problem with cheap materials. They just don’t last. All of the remedies you have stated above will work but only temporary unfortunately. The problem is you are exposing it to the elements and water. All of that eats away at clay.
