How would you wrap/display ornaments for a craft show?
I’ve been hand painting glass ornaments for a craft show in a few weeks and have been trying to think of a way to wrap them so they don’t break before people get them home. I’ve thought of origami/paper boxes but not only does that seem really time consuming but I can’t find a good ‘pattern’ that’s the right size.
I’ve also been told the stuff that sells best has a good display to get attention and such… any suggestions on either issue?

YOu’ll have to be more specific as to what kind of ornaments they are…do they stand up alone or are they meant for hanging..like on a christmas tree? What colours are they? I would need to know these things before advising on display…as for wrapping..it depends on wether you want to gift wrap them or just pack them safely for people.,…if it is just to wrap safely then I would just get bubble wrap and then put them in paper bags or boxes…
I would display them on fake christmas trees, or on a wire tree painted white (this might help keep them the centerpiece, now that I think about it). See the basic idea here:

Make one, paint it white, and sprinkle some irridescent glitter over the tree before it dries. Or choose a color scheme that better matches your ornaments, or just leave it metal. Either way it will be pretty.
As for boxes, you can buy bulk paper boxes. Here’s one supplier.

They are less than a dollar each. Get a shredder and shred tissue paper or newspaper to pack them in, or buy a box of fiberfill at the craft store (the stuff that goes inside stuffed animals) and fill the space in the box with that.
I’d recommend a box that would also provide people with a safe place to store them AFTER use. I use Uline for all my box and packaging needs. Here’s a link to the 4x4x4 white corregated box.

For display purposes, here are a few ideas:
1. Use a tree and display them that way. Shows them in actual use.
2. Use a grid wall with pegs. This is a great way to display a lot of items in a small space, although cost wise, this is a more expensive option.
3. Use the boxes, complete with decorative tissue paper or shredded paper, and have the ornaments cradled in the paper. This will allow you to display quite a few on a table and makes it quick & easy to pack up for someone purchasing one. Another added benefit – you can pack them in the box yourself for transportation.
4. Use a garland – this can be laid out on the table and the oraments displayed on there.
You didn’t ask…however, thought I’d share a few other display tips:
* For displays, I find that it’s great to use different heights. I use empty boxes under the tablecloth to do this.
* Purchase black or solid color sheets inexpensively at discount stores (Wal-Mart, Target, etc). These make great tablecloths that hold up to washing.
