i am a mother of three i have no money this year times are tough for our family i want my kids to have a good time and my daughter wants to be a rag doll i heard you could use old cloths instead of yarn i was hopin some one could tell me how

Can you get striped knee socks or tights for her? Those would be priceless with Maryjane shoes. Some dolls have the little white ankle socks over the striped tights, too. You can often get things like this at discount clearing houses (Big Lots, Tuesday Morning, etc) and even thrift stores.
Loose clothes a size or two too big would be ideal. A jumper and blouse would be good, as many rag dolls wear those. Add big buttons to these and it will be absolutely cute!
Does she have a sacrifice-able hairband or can you get one? If so, sew many thin strips of cloth to it to make the hair. Put the hairband on her and measure how long the strips will need to be in front and in back of it.
