How do you build “fairy houses?

This is an activity I plan on doing with some young children this summer as a craft project, so serious answers only please! I was told by someone you can use bark or sticks but I need some good ideas on putting these together and various items used. Thank you!

I suppose it depends on what kind of house your fairies live in. Mushroom houses? Tree boles? Serendipitous leaf configurations? Bee hives? Wasp nests? mud swallow nests? I suppose you could watch a few animated fairy stories like that one costarring ‘Batty’, with the voice of Robin Williams… Forgot the name, though.

http://www.fairywoodland.com/ has them for sale, maybe you could take a look at get the basic idea. But since you are doing this with children, they are so imaginitive they might figure it out better than an adult would. Just offer them lots of twigs, stones, leaves, etc… and plenty of glue! If you don’t plan to use the houses outside you could have them use a “house-shaped” cardboard base, and depending on the age of the children, you can use a glue gun for construction.

http://www.fairywoodland.com/—- this may help you also. It may give you an idea as to how to go about it. also you can use a shoe box set it up oblong and use glue and attach your sticks and twigs to form structure. cut windows out and use suran wrap to cover for window cut out.

find loose tree bark or a hollow section of log and place it where you want, with the tree bark you will need sticks inside to brace the bark walls, then you can use large leaves for a roof, rocks and bits of this and that to decorate, fairies love shiny things so take some marbles, crystals, old beads, a thimble for a vase, anything that pleases you and the kids will please the fairies, acorn tops make great plates. for the most part you want natural materials, you could take some sea shells out there too if you dont mind giving them to the fairies.basically the houses are just leaned onto sticks and such for support or onto the base of a standing tree.the idea is its natural and blends in with everything.
