How do I make a quill pen? And where can I find the feathers?
Sorry, the others didn’t have good answers. And one was asking if people switched to pens or still use quills. 3 years ago……… Well, I have 2 theories:
1) Take a big feather with a hallow center and glue a pen in.
2) Take the same kind of feather and carefully carve a point in it. Dip it in ink and write.
Which would work better? Would I be able to use gel food coloring? (I have a lot because we needed it for a cake decorating class) And where can I get big, hallow feathers? Don’t care about color. And do those fit regular pens? Or do I need to find others? Please don’t tell me to look in a craft store, no luck in craft sections of walmart or meijer and same for Joann fabrics. Oh, and just a little extra question, How do you make/where do you buy a roll of parchment? Thanks!
Luke: Wow…………………….. Just, wow……..
I googled and it says to look for turkey or goose feathers. I really hope they mean fake!
Peace forever: Well, in MY park there aren’t any hawks or turkeys walking around. And I believe you put sand in the oven and stick feathers in that. Saw 3 things that said that.
Other I forgot name of: I don’t want to buy one, I want to make one
Oh, and parchment is paper that has oil or something that it was soaked in. Makes it last longer and look different

What you are supposed to do is boil the end of the feather in water and then carve it to a point. Use ink. No idea where to get the parchment paper. Isn’t it made of animal skin? Like goat, or something? You can find feathers in a forest or field somewhere. Try to find a hawk or turkey feather. They work the best.
