my mom tried doing the gift wrapping thing from home- lets just say her buisness failed miserably cause her costumer base could only be local.. so u hasve to make a web site or there are websitees already up for people wanting to sell their work and post their work, that way more people can see it therefore u have a wider customer base
I tried many ways to make money off of my own art and craft work, but I find it really difficult to do art shows all summer as well as produce enough stuff to try to sell all the time. If there is a certain craft you do, have you thought about writing and teaching about it? Quilting, painting, crocheting… whatever? You can start a website and make money from the information you already know. If you can make a website about a craft you know a lot about and are passionate about you never run out of things to say. Plus you learn more yourself in the process. That’s what I have done. I love it and I am making money from it. You can look at my site for an example if you like; http://www.the-best-homemade-gift-ideas.com
I use site build it because I don’t really know a lot about web design. So they walk me through everything step by step. For more info about them see my profile
Hopefully this gives you another avenue to think about. Good luck.

(my site is primarily about polymer clay, but most of that info would apply to any craft).
Keep in mind that unless you also teach crafts (at home, etc.), it’ll be pretty hard to “make a living” only by selling crafts you make. You can make money though.
Good luck,

I was reading about some dude who started his own custom furniture business online. His article helped me, and I figured you might check it out too!
I don’t know that there is a lot of interest out there in people buying crafts, unfortunately. Are there any other companies out there that you could get involved with in selling their product–then you could market yours alongside it.
I’m having a great time with my company and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. Feel free to email me through my profile if you need any more thoughts or have questions.
Good luck with your decision!
