How can I waterproof or water resist an apron?

I want to make a craft apron with my daughter paint hand prints n such. When Im done I would like it to be waterproof so when she spills on it during crafts – water and other liquids cant penentrate it at least not as easily? Any ideas?
Oh I know what your talking about – Ive used it to waterproof cloth diaper shells and I know its okay for this type of thing – and its washable and can be touched up from time to time. They arent talking about scotchguard though its a different product – thanks everyone.

If you look where the tents and camping goods are in a department store , you will find a spray can that is normally applied to tents to make the water bead off. You may have to ask for assistance from someone who works the department. But, this spray can also be used on other fabrics. Becareful, not all of the sprays are fire retardant.

Camping supplies, used to sell a spray for old style, canvas tents. I don’t know if you can find it. Everyone has nylon these days. If not try a shoe store, for, a waterproofing, Swede, spray. Either of those will work, if you can find them.
