How can I join two pieces of marine vinyl?

I need a large piece of marine vinyl, but the craft stores only sell them at 54″ wide. So I would like to buy several pieces and mend them together. It has to be water proof and in the end I would like it to look like one piece.

Is there a way of sewing or melting the two pieces together?

Yes, you can sew them together. The seam will be evident.

If you want seamless, buy the length you need — so if you need, say 9×72″, instead of buying 1/2 yard of 54″ inch wide vinyl and cutting two 9″ strips and seaming them together, buy 2 yards, and cut a strip 9″ wide down the selvage. (you’ll find a use for the rest of it!)

It’s the same machine used to make diving suits…..heat sealer. But for a diy thing, I would suggest a super glue caulk adhesive (yes thats really what it is. I have a tube of it in the back seat).

I thought about using a heat gun for like metling heat shrink (coating that goes over exposed wiring). You can buy it at most hardware stores Ace/Lowes. But whether it will work or not….dunno
