Help! Need Creative CRAFT ideas for kids!?
I teach sunday school, and being thrifty as I am, I wanted to have a “recycle craft day” so I’ve been saving items like toilet tissue rolls, paper towel rolls, water bottles, metal cans of variable sizes, and even egg cartons. Any ideas out there (that are simple) and don’t require a lot of detail. We usually have about 1/2 hr to do a craft. Thanks for reading and help me get those young creative minds at work and save money on materials.(not to mention less trash in our landfills) WEBSITES would be helpful too!

To make it less expensive, go to http://www.freecycle.org, look up your local network and see if anyone has any craft supplies they no longer need. Either browse through the offers or post an ad for supplies you’d like.
just a few of my own ideas –
– make stationery holders with the tissue roll cylinders. tape a few together [they can be of diff heights], cut & glue a piece of cardboard for the base. then cover & decorate/adorn. use each section to keep diff articles such as brushes, pencils, ….
– It can also be covered in papier mache [tissue strips dipped in diluted PVA glue or homemade flour paste - at least 2 layers. it will hide all the tape, etc. Then paint. however, it will take a couple of days to dry completely & hence has to be done in 2 sittings, if possible.
-- this can also be done with the cans [just remove one side of the can 'lid' neatly]. use acrylic colors to paint [or poster colors mixed with PVA glue].
– paint & decorate egg cartons. use to hold trinkets, earrings, bugs, marbles, etc.
– from your load of bottles, select some nicely shaped ones. if it is plastic, you can cut out the neck & use the base as a container, flower pot, vase, stationery holder, ladle holder, etc. Just adorn with whatever you can find at home – strings, yarn, beads, sequins, fabric, knit motifs….
– you can fill the bottle with pebbles, marbles, pot a plant or kitchen herbs, hydroponic plants, shells, ….
– for holders, you can try to make a collection of different height bottles, glued together on a base. each one can hold something diff like pencils, brushes, combs, kitchen ladles, straws, etc.
