Have you done any craft projects using old clothing?
My girlfriend has done craft projects like she has on her blog here http://craftingagreenworld.com/2008/05/23/girl-reconstructed-upcycling-old-clothes/#more-462 and I’ve been thrift store shopping for materials myself. I’ve never tried sewing anything in my life and thought it would be fun. Have you done anything similar or done any craft projects at all using old clothes?

never but maybe i should try it i have tons at home. you are a really sweet girl thnks for the idea
Yes, I cut up my old jeans and the leg part made the bag, the trim made the strap, and I even added the pocket. Also I put cute trimming so it will look cool. ;]
You can recycle yarn from old sweaters. Just make sure the ones you pick aren’t cut at the seams. You can make pillows out of old sweaters too. You can use old sheets and turn them into fat quarters for quilting. The possibilities are endless.
I have seen seat covers made from silk ties.
Pillows from sport coats and sweaters.
Totes from t shirts
Purses and skirts from old jeans
Rugs from strips of cotton, then braided
Place mats from jeans – back pocket used for silverware holder and bandana napkin – cute for picnic basket
Lining baskets – for desks, book shelves
Remakes of retro costumes, for plays, musicals, parades, school projects
Seat covers for your car – bucket seats – out of sport logo t shirts.
I’ve cut up old clothes into squares to make quilts or into strips to crochet with (rag rugs are terrific!). I reused some old jeans to sew cushion covers for dog beds (I use old polyfil pillows in making them, too). My local humane society loves these, too.
My mom makes old Jeans into diaper bags. I’ve also seen them made into those long denim skirts (with panels of other jeans sewn in. That was on diynetwork.com under crafts & be original.) Also with old jeans, You can cut the back pocket off & embellish it & either hang it to hold things, or add a strap & use it as a tiny bag.
As far as other clothes; I’ve seen many people cut their babies clothes into strips to make into quilts.
There’s tons of ideas out there, but I really like the stuff your friend has on her blog. Something I never would have thought of!!
dresses are very nice.Have you ever try to sell them?I suggest to used the recycling material from your dresses to make dresses for dolls, as for e.g. http://www.thehandicrafts.net/shop/dolls/
