Has anyone ever…?

…made their own Save the Date cards?

If so, how did you make your envelopes? I’m sure you can buy these kits in a craft store but I perfer to make them myself. I want to make them personable.

Do you know any websites I can go to to get this information or share with me what it is you did to successfully complete to process of your own Save the Date Cards?

P.S. Its for my wedding.

Thank you for all your comments and help

Try web site below for template for making envelopes.
I have seen these at JoAnn fabrics and scrapbook stores

Making most envelopes you are going to need a 12×12′ piece of paper. It would be more cost affective to buy the envelopes and make the card to match the size

I have used these templates. Great customer services at this web site.

Some scrapbook stores have envelope die cuts. As long as you buy paper at their store you can use the die cut machines for free.

You can also find an envelope that’s the same size as the one you want to use, open it up, trace around it, and there you go! Fold it back up and you have the envelope you need.

Once you unfold the envelope you need, use that as a template to make the rest. I hope I’m not confusing you, just find an envelope in the size you need, open it up (unfold it), trace around it, cut out what you traced, and there you go. Then just repeat this until you have as many as you need.

You can also try doing it with larger ones and just cutting it out smaller than what you need.

If you want to line the envelope, just do the same thing you did to make the envelope, just cut it out a little bit smaller than the actual envelope itself!

I hope this helps! Congratulations on your wedding!

How about something different if your doing it yourself. People will definitely notice.
Why not try a nicely decorated by yourself – POSTCARD –
With save the date – your not expecting a response – just a heads up notice.
I think you could really make some clever cards – add lace trim – ribbon – spend a little more on the card – and forget the envelopes. Besides postcards are cheaper to send.
