Crafts To Make & Sell – Ideas?

What are some good ideas for crafts to make and sell on either etsy.com or ebay.com? I am already going to paint clay pots for plants. Any other ideas? If you say sewing, crocheting, or knitting, can you give me a site to help me get started because I’m not sure how to do it!! ALSO, what are some online stores to order craft products? Thanks!!

I think handmade cards could be a good, saleable item fro you to make, depending on your market. Do you have friends and family that would like to buy them? Do you know a craft store owner or gift shop owner who would like to sell handmade cards? Is there a craft market near you where you could rent a stand to sell them? It’s also possible to sell them on ebay and also to have your own Etsy shop.

Maybe do a little research first to see whether this idea is worth pursuing?

If you do decide to start making handmade cards, I have a website about paper crafting that could help. Here’s the page for cardmaking:

Also, have a look at Splitcoaststampers for heaps of card ideas:

And here’s the site to check out Etsy stores:

All the best with your venture!

i think it’d be better to make stuff that you actually enjoy doing (and are relatively good at!). if you like to paint clay pots, then paint away… you could move on to painting other things, like birdhouses, or other garden materials.

if you’re good at designing, you could make cards, notecards, postcards… these are paper goods and are relatively easy to make – just design and print them on good paper. shipping is light as well. or if you like sewing, perhaps sew something small like a cellphone strap, then move on to bigger things like a plush!

you could check here for more ideas on those plushes, http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6154077

I make items for a craft sale that I attend each year. I have found that making items that are actually useful sell best. Baby items are great sellers. Items that are for the kitchen, shawls, crochet slippers, capes and ponchos. Any item that can be worn or serves a useful purpose. Handmade, homemade, these are not avaliable in stores and always sell best. Hope this helps.

You can do a copper punching project . Find some small patterns and punch them in the copper sheet , and make your own frame to put it in to where you can hang them on the walls. You could also do mop dolls too, those are really popular also. You could also make a homemade calendar with the sliding tiles , do like either a wooden one or the plastic with the holes in it where you can sew yarn into it for color and decoration and for the holidays make like a special tile , ex.Christmas do a Christmas tree & Easter do an easter egg. Good luck in what you do.
