Crafts: E3000 glue? Trying to get something the size of a dime glued to leather.?
Does it need the whole 72 hours to dry? Would you need to put like a book on top of it too press it down? After 72 hours its not gonna peel off? I had the glue on for less than 48 hours and it peeled right off.
Shhhhh…….

I don’t like E3000. It DOESN’T hold very well at all, and seems to peel off even after a week.
Try Welder or Plumbers GOOP (in the purple tube). They hold solidly and durably.
I used Gorilla glue on my leather purse. You need to use pressure with it as it drys.
worked great.
You did not specify whether the glue peeled off of the leather or the “dime sized object”. Many glues do not adhere well to hard, slick surfaces so if the DSO is in fact metal you might need to roughen the surface with a file, sandpaper, or a wire brush to give the glue a place to grip. If the leather has a slick surface such as an upholstery or shoe leather has you might need to scratch that too.
As to the setting time, yes. I talked to an adhesives researcher several years ago while writing a book on leather assembly procedures. He was emphatic that all non-catalyzing (not having two components such as epoxy) glues must have a minimum of 22 hours at a temperature above 75 degrees, to cure. So if the manufacturer of the E3000 says 72, they probably have done a bunch of testing to arrive at that amount of time.
