Craft Experts please! I am attempting to make a stencil from acetate sheets. The design has some very fine?

detail and I need to find some way (some sort of spray or glue?) of holding the ‘pointy bits’ of the acetate (e.g. small flames) flat against the wall while I apply the emulsion paint. However, it must not leave any residue that might interfere with the next layer of paint! Am I being too ambitious, or does anyone have a magical answer for me?!

    I do mine this way:

Tape the edges of the stencil paper or acetate to the cutting key with masking tape. Be sure paper or acetate is secured over the design.
    Step9
With a craft knife held perpendicular to the cutting key, follow the design and cut the stencil paper or acetate.
    Step10
Begin cutting shapes in the interior of the design and work your way out. Hold the cutting key steady with one hand. Cut using a single stroke per line and apply steady pressure.
    Step11
Remove the masking tape carefully from the stencil and lift the stencil off the cutting key.
    Step12
Store the stencil in a folder for later use.
You must go slow and not hurry when cutting out.
