Can you use a woodburner on paper mache products such as this?

I woodburn as a craft/hobby, and I was going to purchase this and personalize it via woodburning for a friend’s b-day….but I’ve never tried using my burner on paper mache…
Anyone know if you can woodburn on paper mache??

   I don’t know if I would try it.. but how about taking a piece of cardboard.. and layering it with paper and glue and allowing it to dry… and testing that way…. I would think it would be similar to how this book is made and it would give you an idea as to how it would look or work after you woodburn it..
