Can someone good with arts and crafts please help me with this??
My husband and I used to go out for picnics when we first met, and while outside we would sit in the grass and find four leaf clovers. I have been trying to think of a way to preserve fresh 4 leaf clovers, so that he can carry one with him when he deploys. I have tried to seal one in tape, but it just gets slimy and nasty. I have tried pressing it between glass, but it just gets dried out and brown (plus it’s not exactly safe to walk around with glass in your pocket). Last night, I thought I had a great idea and I tried surrounding both sides of a clover with hot glue. The problem was, you can hardly see it and it looks like something you would make in Kindergarten. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can preserve this wonderful memory of us?
P.S. For a little clarity on the situation, the first clovers we found, we put between the pages of a book. They dried nicely (a little brown though), but you can’t carry it with you or it will crumble.
BTW: I am a very crafty person and can do pretty much anything if I think about it, but I am just absolutely STUCK on this one!!
Unfortunately, he will be gone for at least a year. Where can I get the acrylic resin? Would Michael’s have something like that, or do you have to buy it online?
Duh!! I didn’t even think about drying the clovers BEFORE laminating them. Makes sense. I guess I’ve had a lot on my mind. Thanks for the great answers so far!!

get it laminated!
what about contact?
or even better get it laminated….that might work as a few years ago i saw some for sale in a newsagent and they were in laminate….and they were in one piece and green.
good luck
The other answer is correct, laminating them will work but it needs to be dried before doing it. Otherwise it’ll end up slimy like the one in the tape did.
Wish you and him the best.
when I was in grade school every fall we would collect different species o leaves for school. at hon we would iron them between two layers of wax paper .You have to insulate between the iron and wax paper with a paper bag. This was great for our purpose but I think you’ll need two add a second step and put your wax paper preserved clover in between clear laminate sheets. don’t try to skip the wax paper phase because laminate sheets are extremely sticky and it will probably impossible to get the leaf flat. This process allows you to do it with the leaf green and fresh.
How about putting it in a heart shaped locket? or get 2 sheets of laminating paper and write a little note and put the clover in too.
It may be possible to pour liquid acrylic resin around it. That is a hard plastic when it is finished drying.
Hope this helps you out and that his time served over there is short.
May god be with both of you.
I’ve used acrylic resin to cast flowers and clover.
